Celebrating Women | Women Empowerment Quotes

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 08.

While every day is a perfect day to celebrate and show support towards women, on this day, the voice of female empowerment is strongest.

A Bit of International Women's Day History

International Women’s Day (IWD) has been observed since the early 1900s. In March 2011, President Barack Obama proclaimed the month to be “Women’s History Month”, calling Americans to reflect on “the extraordinary accomplishments of women” in shaping the country’s history.

According to the IWD About page, International Women’s Day is “a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.”

March 8 signifies an important day of the year to: “celebrate women’s achievements; raise awareness about women’s equality; lobby for accelerated gender parity; and fundraise for female-focused charities.”
