Monthly Highlights | February 2022

Here are some of my favorite things in February 2022!

Entertainment

Streaming service(s) might change from the time of writing this post due to the services’ contract with the movie/TV show networks.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005-2008) | 3 SEASONS, 61 EPISODES

The very first episode of this wonderful series came out on February 21, 2005, so I couldn’t help myself and made my month an Avatar: The Last Airbender-themed month.

This was my version of Naruto back in the day, but it still holds a special place in my heart for all the lessons it taught me.

I think I had included this in another monthly favorite, so I won’t get too detailed with its storyline. In short, this masterpiece is about a 12-year-old boy, Aang, and his two closest friends, Katara and Sokka, traveling through the nations of the Air, Water, Earth, and Fire tribes. Along their journey, Aang, the Avatar, sets out to master the other three elements corresponding to the nations in order to put a stop to the ongoing war that had wiped out Aang’s entire Air Tribe 100 years ago.

Maturity Rating: TV-Y7 • Genre: Adventure, Action • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Netflix

CRAZY RICH ASIANS (2018)

I avoided Crazy Rich Asians since its release, and when practically everyone was talking about it. I was never really into the romance/drama genre of movies, so this was never intended to be on my watchlist.

I finally caved in this month, since it is also the month of love and I figured, “Why not”?

I thought it was definitely an interesting, and relatable, take on romance. It was essentially about the societal classes and the rich guy, middle-class woman kind of story. The lovely female lead has a challenging time fitting in with her partner’s family and inner circle and especially struggles to get the approval of her partner’s mother.

I think the story was very well put together, and I understood why it was a highly respected and talked about movie.

Maturity Rating: PG-13 • Genre: Romance, Drama • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Unknown

READY PLAYER ONE (2018)

I didn’t know what I was getting into when I began watching Ready Player One. To anime lovers, this movie reminds me a lot of Sword Art Online.

Ready Player One is a sci-fi movie that takes us about 20 years into the future where most of the human population prefers living their lives in the OASIS, a virtual reality universe. When the creator of the game passes away, a series of challenges to collect his fortune, and rights to the game, ensues and so does the conflict of the rest of the movie.

I think this was a fun movie. It’s full of exciting adventures and makes me want to try out virtual reality someday to experience a world outside of my own. Plus, it was fun following along and trying to figure out the clues and hints of the puzzles given.

Maturity Rating: PG-13 • Genre: Action, Adventure • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Hulu

HERBIE: FULLY LOADED (2005)

I loved Herbie: Fully Loaded back then, and I love it just as much now.

If you’re into NASCAR racing and Volkswagen Beetles that seem to have a life of their own, Herbie: Fully Loaded is a must-watch.

I really don’t know what else to say about this other than I find it to be a lovely, wholesome, and motivational movie to follow what you love doing in life.

Maturity Rating: G • Genre: Family, Comedy • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Disney+

FEBRUARY PLAYLIST

Gratitude

I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

  • Upgrading my family vehicle;
  • Playing with puppies;
  • Improving my website;
  • Improving my drawings;
  • Cooler weather.

A gratitude list does not have to include major life events (but include them when they do happen). Simple blessings, such as showering with clean water, are overlooked privileges to be grateful for.

Incorporate or reserve at least 10 minutes of your daily routine to write at least three (3) things you are grateful for.

We all need a good reminder to keep our feet on the ground.

“If I try, I [might] fail. If I don’t try, I’m never going to get it.” –Avatar Aang, Avatar: The Last Airbender

Keep being inspired and take care always,
