Monthly Highlights | September 2022

Here are some of my favorite things from September 2022!

Entertainment

Streaming service(s) might change from the time of writing this post due to the services’ contract with the movie/TV show networks.

Clifford the Big Red Dog (2021)

I’ve loved the animated series Clifford the Big Red Dog as well as its prequel, Clifford’s Puppy Days. So, naturally, I was excited to see the live-action of Clifford the Big Red Dog. Though nothing can beat the original series, I found this story to be extremely sweet and moving. The movie touched on family, friendship, magic, experiments, and standing up for yourself and those you love.

I also usually don’t like animations mixed with live-action films, but I fell in love with Clifford when I saw him. I thought he was very well-animated, and if a dog like him existed somewhere in the world, I would adopt him in a second.

This movie made me laugh, cry, reflect, connect with my inner child, and desire to adopt a puppy.

Maturity Rating: PG • Genre: Family, Comedy • Original Language: English • Streaming Platform: Amazon Prime Video

The Lost City (2022)

The first time I was hearing talks about this film, I got excited. Sandra Bullock and Daniel Radcliff in one movie? YES. I absolutely love both actors. I only didn’t get to watch it in the theatre because it slipped my mind that it was already out, but thankfully I was able to watch it online.

As much as I love the actors, and I did enjoy the storyline, I felt like there was still something missing. I felt like it came up a bit short. I don’t know what it is, but I wish there was a little something extra, especially toward the end.

Nonetheless, the movie was full of adventure. I love the dynamics among all of the actors. Also, Daniel Radcliffe played the antagonist very well and would love to see him in more adventure/action films outside of Hogwarts.

Maturity Rating: PG-13 • Genre: Romance, Adventure • Original Language: English • Streaming Platform: Amazon Prime Video

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (2022)

I was so excited to watch this. I was a bit hesitant when I was watching the first part, but the animation mixed with the live-action was just as good as Clifford’s and I fell in love with Sonic as well. I love both of them as my fictional kid and pet.

I do think part one was slightly better, but part two is not too far behind. I thought that all of the hedgehogs were so cute and fluffy, and I wanted to cuddle them all. love Jim Carrey – any character he plays, he does them so perfectly, and I believe he’s a once-in-a-lifetime actor.

Maturity Rating: PG • Genre: Adventure, Comedy • Original Language: English • Streaming Platform: Amazon Prime Video

SEPTEMBER PLAYLIST

Foods

POLVORON

I have loved Polvoron forever, and this time is no different. A friend of my parents gave us about two boxes of Polvoron from the Philippines, and they tasted so good! One was the assorted Polvoron, which I’ve tried before. And the other just came in a food container so I’m not even sure what they are, but they’re the best-tasting Polvoron I’ve tried in my life! I keep asking my parents to ask their friend the name, but they haven’t done so yet. I became addicted to the plain white ones, and I’m just salivating as I’m writing about them.

Gratitude

I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

  • Bonding with my close friends;
  • Having over 500 total views on my Youtube channel;
  • Admiring the island’s murals;
  • Trying delicious Korean food;
  • Doing more daily walks.

A gratitude list does not have to include major life events (but include them when they do happen). Simple blessings, such as showering with clean water, are overlooked privileges to be grateful for.

Incorporate or reserve at least 10 minutes of your daily routine to write at least three (3) things you are grateful for.

We all need a good reminder to keep our feet on the ground.
