Monthly Highlights | July 2020

I’m so excited to be doing my first monthly favorites and goals post! My list is pretty short this time around, which I hope to expand as each month arrives. Many of these favorites have been a part of my life for a long while already. So let’s get to it!

Entertainment

Streaming service(s) might change from the time of writing this post due to the services’ contract with the movie/TV show networks.

最难忘的假期 (AWAY FROM HOME) (2015) | 1 SEASON, 16 EPISODES

Away From Home is a 2015 TV series that captures an inspiring story of self-discovery, friendship, growth, and family. I love it because of how relatable it is to my personal life as a child. I was highly impressed with the values and lessons that the show incorporated, and I would absolutely watch it again.

I originally watched the series on Netflix, but the platform is no longer streaming it, and I am not sure where it can currently be streamed.

Maturity Rating: PG-13 • Genre: Drama, Family • Original Language: Chinese • Streaming Service: Unknown

식샤를 합시다 (LET'S EAT) (2013-2014) | 1 SEASON, 16 EPISODES

If you’re looking for a lighter series, Let’s Eat is sure to get you hungry from each episode. It follows the story of three strangers who come together by their love of food. Due to its comedic nature, it comes in second on my favorite K-Drama shows list, right after Boys Over Flowers (2009).

There is a Let’s Eat 2 and a Let’s Eat 3, but I did not want to watch either because, even though I love the main male lead, I did not want to watch them without the original main female lead.

I originally watched the series on Netflix, but the platform is no longer streaming it. It can still be streamed on Amazon Prime.

Maturity Rating: PG-13 • Genre: Drama, Family • Original Language: Korean • Streaming Service: Amazon Prime

마이 리틀 베이비 (MY LITTLE BABY) (2016) | 1 SEASON, 16 EPISODES

My Little Baby is on the comedic and mature side as it follows the journey of a man who was thrust into the world of taking care of his infant niece when his sister and brother-in-law suddenly passed away. I find the story interesting as it delves into the perspective of a single father figure, and the challenges and choices he has to make.

I originally watched the series on Netflix, but the platform is no longer streaming it, and I am not sure where it can currently be streamed.

Maturity Rating: PG-13 • Genre: Comedy, Family • Original Language: Korean • Streaming Service: Unknown

Music

It wouldn’t be a July favorite list without celebrating One Direction’s 10-year anniversary and having their songs play on repeat. I’ve especially found myself listening to Moments, Don’t Forget Where You Belong, and Hey Angel the most.

Books

For my July reads, I enjoyed Libby Blake’s Typhoon & Tempest, as well as Dani Draven’s Unseen. Both stories are found on Wattpad and are interesting reads, especially if you enjoy the supernatural.

Digital Media

KEEP NOTES

I’ve been hooked on Keep Notes lately for all my important reminders and lists. I’ve been putting my shopping and to-do lists on there and I love that I can view the lists on both my phone and desktop anytime I need to.

Food & Drink

UPO

This month, I’ve had the pleasure of trying the Filipino dish, Upo, or Bottle Gourd in English. I was hesitant at first as I’m not a huge fan of vegetables, but surprisingly I found myself enjoying it and had it at least once more in the month. Comment below if you’d like me to make a separate blog post on this delicious recipe.

Keep being inspired and take care always,
