Monthly Highlights | October 2021

Hold up, October!

You came in, caused a commotion, and now I’m trying to catch up with your shenanigans.

I don’t even know how to explain the important things that happened this month. I will say, though, that a couple of blessings that I’ve been praying for are coming to fruition. The wheels are all set, engines are revving, so all I have to do is step on the pedal.

Oh my gosh.

My emotions have been all over the place, and I think with all the other regular daily activities I have, I’m just trying to sort out my mind.

I’ll reveal everything when it’s time, but for now, here are some keywords for the rest of 2021:

Expansion.

Planes.

Celebrations.

Family.

Entertainment

Streaming service(s) might change from the time of writing this post due to the services’ contract with the movie/TV show networks.

“青の祓魔師 (Blue Exorcist) (2011, 2017) | 2 SEASONS, 37 EPISODES

In this anime television series, we have twin boys born from a human female and the Devil himself. One of them ends up with his father’s powers and ends up studying to be an exorcist. Lovely.

I’m still in the middle of watching the series, but I’m loving it so far. Rin is an adorable teenager who, even though has the world on his shoulders, still has a heart of purity and curiosity. Although the anime does highlight evil, there are lots of humorous scenes throughout, especially ones revolving around Rin, that make the series itself feel lighthearted. The storyline is interesting, but so far I feel like I have yet to touch the root of the characters’ strengths and emotions. I love them on the surface already, but it would be nice to see more of their core.

Maturity Rating: TV-14 • Genre: Action, Fantasy • Original Language: Japanese • Streaming Service: Hulu, Crunchyroll

NCIS (2003-PRESENT) | 20 SEASONS, 457 EPISODES

I first watched NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) back in 2009, and I’ve always had a soft spot for the crime show since then. Other than the cases, what drew me into the show was the bond that the characters have with each other – Special Agents Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Ziva David, Tony DiNozzo, Timothy McGee, Caitlyn Todd, along with forensic scientist, Abby Sciuto, chief medical examiner, Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, and assistant medical examiner, Jimmy Palmer. They are my second favorite TV show team, ever.

I stopped watching the show a season or two before Ziva left, and when I would rewatch it, I often stopped watching by season six or seven. It was heartbreaking when Kate left, so I don’t think I would’ve handled more of the characters leaving. I began rewatching the series about a month ago, before reading that *spoiler alert* someone else, the core of the team, Leroy Jethro Gibbs has also left the show in this current season. I know I haven’t been watching the new seasons, but it still hits hard knowing that almost everyone from the original team is gone. *end spoiler*

Anyway, NCIS – adore the series (at least up until seasons 8-9). Love the original team. A lot of intense storylines and cases. A bunch of humor integrated as well.

Maturity Rating: TV-14 • Genre: Crime, Drama • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Netflix

OCTOBER PLAYLIST

I admit that most of my music time this month was spent on NCT 127’s Lemonade. I can’t help it. It’s so good! Other than that, these were the other songs that I enjoyed this month. PS, I’m insanely craving for the latest album releases from both Adele and Ed Sheeran.

*Update: Ed Sheeran’s latest album was released just as I was about to post this, and I’m currently listening to the songs on repeat. So far Be Right Now is my ultimate favorite out of the album!

PASSPORT RENEWAL

After about 11 weeks, I finally received my renewed passport. I’m so excited! I’m so grateful that I was able to go through this process for the first time on my own and, other than the long wait, with no bumps along the way.

Gratitude

I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

  • Receiving my renewed passport;
  • Lively and witty public service employees;
  • Getting my first 5-star character in Genshin Impact (Sangonomiya Kokomi);
  • Seeing my designs improve;
  • Cooler weather.

A gratitude list does not have to include major life events (but include them when they do happen). Simple blessings, such as showering with clean water, are overlooked privileges to be grateful for.

Incorporate or reserve at least 10 minutes of your daily routine to write at least three (3) things you are grateful for.

We all need a good reminder to keep our feet on the ground.
