What are 'Affirmations'?

There are two types: positive and negative affirmations. Positive affirmations are, of course, the ones we should focus on. They are statements or phrases that challenge negative, unhelpful thoughts and aim to improve upon them. They are specific to our situation and work with our subconscious patterns in order to help us overcome our challenges with regard to ourselves, our passions and goals, and our relationships.

As we go through these affirmations, we choose one (or five) that calls out to us and say them out loud at least twice a day – morning and evening when we’re in a relaxed state. Saying these affirmations after waking up allows our conscious self to bring that energy with us throughout our day while saying them before bed helps the energy flow into our subconscious. If we prefer, we can also do this in front of a mirror. Doing this allows us to further envision these affirmations, making them more believable and attainable to our subconscious.

If we can’t find an affirmation we connect with, we can write personalized ones that suit us better.

TIPS FOR WRITING AFFIRMATIONS

Start them in the first-person point of view (i.e. “I” and “My”)

Keep them in the present tense (i.e. “I am,” “I feel,” and “I have”)

Keep them positive (i.e. “can” and “income”)

Keep them concise and specific.

Keep in mind that affirmations work only if we are willing and ready to make positive changes in our lives.

Affirmations for Self-Healing

My past does not define my present and future.

I am worthy of happiness and abundance in all areas of my life.

I choose to forgive because love is a powerful healer.

I release the need to be right.

I accept that my timeline is different from others and that I remain patient as I go through it.

I can do anything I set my mind to.

I enjoy giving without any expectations.

My current circumstances bring more lessons, healing, and growth.

Every accomplishment I have, big or small, is a major blessing in my life.

I am confident in myself and my abilities.

I trust that everything happens for a reason and that I am being led in the right direction.

The perspective of others further opens my mind to infinite possibilities.

I treat myself and those around me with genuine respect and kindness.

I am a work in progress and move forward one day at a time.

I love my family and friends with deep understanding and compassion.

I have strong faith in my own judgment and intuition.

I forgive my past, focus on my present, and look forward to my future.

I am worthy of giving and receiving love.

Every flaw of my being is what makes me perfectly imperfect.

Loving myself is the most powerful love I embody.

I allow myself to understand and respect the perspective of others.

I am surrounded with undying love, infinite possibilities, and unwavering positivity.

I am a powerful creator and I’m constantly reshaping and improving my path.

My positive energy is attracting the right people into my life.

Everything I’m going through is helping me learn, understand, and grow as a person.

I allow my body to rest and rejuvenate whenever it needs to do so.

I am a passionate human being with the power to achieve all my goals in life.

I acknowledge my past behavior and forgive them with understanding and the strength to let them go.

I welcome the feeling of tranquility and freedom as I forgive myself and others.

I am at peace with my past, my present, and my future.
