Here are some of my favorite things in April 2022!

Entertainment

Streaming service(s) might change from the time of writing this post due to the services’ contract with the movie/TV show networks.

Shrek (2001) || Shrek 2 (2004) || Shrek Forever After (2010)

I love Shrek. I saw the first two when they originally came out, and the fourth one just this past month when I saw that Netflix recently had them available. Unfortunately, I have not seen the third installment. I can’t find it on any of the streaming services I have. I think the original storyline is brilliant and it creates this exciting new world of fairytales. I also admire that Princess Fiona is not like the common princess we often see in these tales.

Maturity Rating: PG • Genre: Adventure, Comedy • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Unknown

Psych: The Movie (2017)

Psych is my favorite TV series of all time. I was saddened by the series’ end but was ecstatic to hear that the entire gang was coming back to film, what I read, five more featured films. When I was watching this movie, it brought back a lot of euphoric memories of the original series, and I was just so happy seeing them back on my screen. There are currently two other films that have been released after this, but I have not seen them yet.

Maturity Rating: TV-PG • Genre: Comedy, Suspense • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Amazon Prime Video

SECRET MAGIC CONTROL AGENCY (2021)

This was an interesting take on the infamous Hansel and Gretel tale. Hansel has definitely stolen my heart here, especially with what he reveals to Gretel near the end. This movie is wholesome. It’s funny. And I always enjoy it when movies include homages to any original versions of the films or the general genre of the film.

Maturity Rating: TV-Y7 • Genre: Fantasy, Family • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Netflix

STEPMOM (1998)

Stepmom will always be a classic. I first watched it at such a young age, and because it left a heartbreaking impact on me, I only ever rewatched it during my mid-20s. There are obviously a lot more instances that made more sense to me as an adult, such as when Luke was scolding Anna, his daughter, to not walk away from her mother. Anna rebutted with, “No that’s your job.” I remember being so confused during that part of the film before, but when I saw it again, I went, “Ohhhhh.” The heartbreak it gave me years ago was multiplied by a thousand tears this time around, but that’s fine. It’s a wonderfully executed story with talented actors and actresses, and, tears aside, I wouldn’t mind watching it again.

Maturity Rating: PG-13 • Genre: Comedy, Drama • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Amazon Prime Video

BIRD BOX (2018)

I have this thing where I get into a highly talked about movie years after they were released. And this was one that I never thought I would love, let alone be interested in. I don’t have much to say about this other than to inform you guys to watch it yourselves if you haven’t yet. I absolutely admire and respect the deeper meaning of this invisible entity and the ability to see without seeing.

Maturity Rating: R • Genre: Horror, Sci-Fi • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Netflix

DOLITTLE (2020)

I enjoyed the original Dolittle franchise (mainly the first two films), so I was excited to watch this version. I wasn’t disappointed. Well, I think that the CGI could be better, but other than that, I enjoyed the storyline. I also think Robert Downy Jr. played Dr. Dolittle exceptionally well. He portrayed Dolittle as someone you initially might not take seriously due to his unorthodox antics, but he ends up being a complete genius.

Maturity Rating: PG • Genre: Adventure, Comedy • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Unknown

APRIL PLAYLIST

Food & Drink

Assam Milk Tea || Assam Taro Milk Tea

I’ve always enjoyed Assam Milk Tea. I couldn’t find these at the stores I frequented in the states, so it was a treat being able to give in to my cravings. This was my first time trying the Taro Milk Tea, and it was surprisingly just as tasty. My favorite is still the regular Assam Milk Tea. I have also tried the Assam Coffee Milk Tea, and let’s just say I was up for almost 48 hours after drinking more than half of the bottle.

JUDY'S

Judy’s is a lovely restaurant to have breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner. Their menu mostly consists of Korean and Filipino dishes. Outside, the building may look like a regular restaurant building, but the inside displays a completely different vibe. There are antiques, paintings, and floral arrangements, and everything is artistically pleasing to look at. The meals that we ordered were delicious. I tried a Loco Moco for the first time, and it was pretty good. I also had my must-have Kimchi Fried rice, which I often get at any restaurant that serves it.

I know that they recently started indoor dining. I am not sure if they do take-outs and deliveries.

Career

MY FIRST VLOGS!

After months of debating with myself in my head, I officially posted my first two videos on Youtube! They were filmed months ago, and the style will eventually change once I get used to talking in front of the camera, so please bare with the content for now. My channel will focus on travel and lifestyle vlogs – videos that help me accomplish my own goals, or bucket list, in life.

Would love to have you join me on those adventures, as well as others that I have not thought about yet. I want it to be a calm, yet fun environment for anyone to enjoy and watch during their free time.

Products

Aromatherapy Candle | Scent: Love (Rose + Vanilla)

I hadn’t been able to get my hands on a BBW scented candle for years, so I’m very grateful to the person who gave this to me. This was the first scented candle I ever fell in love with and would love to have a handful of around the house. I light this up whenever I want to relax and daydream about anything and everything. I especially enjoy having this lit up when the windows are open and the wind blows the scent throughout my room. I also often only light one wick at a time because my nose is sensitive and lighting all three gets pretty heavy.

HYDRO FLASK WATER BOTTLE | Size: 21 oz

I’ve had my share of reusable water bottles throughout the years. I’ve loved many of them, and this has recently been added to my love list. One of the features I appreciate about this bottle is how mature it makes me feel when drinking. I’ve always preferred bottles where the drinking area would be flipped and I would drink as if I were sipping from a straw (which I technically was). To drink from this bottle, I have to twist the cap open and drink directly from the body. Another feature I’m still amazed by is that it can keep my cold water cold for a couple of hours, even though the temperature outside is humid.

The Hydro Flask Water Bottle can be found on Amazon.

Gratitude

I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

  • Posting my first Youtube video;
  • Catching up with close friends;
  • Attending the Flame Tree Arts Festival;
  • Having a front yard full of adorable puppies;
  • Seeing an increase in website traffic.

A gratitude list doesn’t have to include major life events (but do include them when they do happen). Simple blessings, such as showering with clean water, are overlooked privileges to be grateful for.

Incorporate or reserve at least 10 minutes of your daily routine to write at least three (3) things you’re grateful for.

We all need a good reminder to keep our feet on the ground.
