Monthly Highlights | May 2022

Here are some of my favorite things from May 2022!

Entertainment

Streaming service(s) might change from the time of writing this post due to the services’ contract with the movie/TV show networks.

Senior Year (2022)

I saw Rebel Wilson on the cover, and I clicked. Senior Year is a light-hearted movie with a slight pinch of a twist near the end. The high school teen wanting to do everything she could to experience all that she’d lost 20 years ago had some giveaway plots, but Wilson’s comedy added a bit of color to them. Overall, I thought this is an interesting movie and would recommend watching it.

Maturity Rating: R • Genre: Comedy, Feel-Good • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Netflix

FATHERHOOD (2021)

I am used to seeing Kevin Hart play in comedies, and I was interested in seeing him play a more serious role. Fatherhood is a movie that made me tear up within the first 10 minutes and then occasionally throughout the rest of the film, while also managing to smile every now and then during some moments. It’s a movie that I find inspirational, heartfelt, and powerful. It’s a movie that has brought up fears of my own should I become a parent in the future. I highly recommend this touching movie.

Maturity Rating: PG-13 • Genre: Drama, Comedy • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Netflix

MURDER MYSTERY (2019)

This is one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies. I love the chemistry between him and Jennifer Aniston, and I love the idea of turning an already popular real-life mystery game into a movie. I can’t wait to watch part two when it comes out!

Maturity Rating: PG-13 • Genre: Comedy, Mystery • Original Language: English • Streaming Service: Netflix

MAY PLAYLIST

Food & Drink

Hiland'S Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

I’ve tried many ice cream flavors in my life, but this is the first time I’ve tried this flavor and it automatically sky-rocketed into my top five favorite ice cream flavors of all time. I love it so much that I bought it three consecutive times and I’m still not tired of it. The chocolate chip cookie is my favorite part of the ice cream mainly because of its chewy texture.

MANGO SIX'S STRAWBERRY COOKIE CRUNCH SMOOTHIE

I absolutely love this smoothie flavor from Mango Six Café, and it is often my go-to drink whenever I go to said café. My favorite part is the Oreo-like cookie crunch. It blends really well according to my tastebuds, and it needs to be blended well or the smoothie will end up being sour.

LOTTE'S SUNFLOWER CHOCOBALL

This was one of my favorite childhood snacks. One interesting thing about the packaging is that I remember it being in a square, white packaging, with a bit of yellow at the bottom for color. Clearly now, they took yellow and made it their primary color. Besides that, I still love it to this day. Obviously, it feels less than it did when I was a kid, but I still find it delicious.

DAIFUKU'S STRAWBERRY MOCHI

Ever since I tried mochi, I can’t help but to try every kind of mochi, including this one. It’s so good! I don’t know what exactly the middle part is, but it complements the outer flavor well.

HIMAWARI'S SALMON SUSHI ROLL

I kind of forgot the exact name for this sushi roll, only that it was salmon. I know there was another name in there, but it’s not coming to me. But anyway, this mouthwatering sushi is from Himawari, and it’s very delicious. I’m normally not a fan of raw fish, but my gosh. I fell in love with the taste after the first roll.

Gratitude

I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

  • Trying new treats and meals;
  • Celebrating Mother’s Day with my mom for the first time in years;
  • Purchasing an aircon to combat the upcoming summer heat;
  • Being able to watch on multiple streaming services;
  • Seeing a frog up close and in person.

A gratitude list does not have to include major life events (but include them when they do happen). Simple blessings, such as showering with clean water, are overlooked privileges to be grateful for.

Incorporate or reserve at least 10 minutes of your daily routine to write at least three (3) things you are grateful for.

We all need a good reminder to keep our feet on the ground.
