I don’t know what I ever did in life to have you be a part of mine.

One moment I was just sitting behind you in class and asked if you would like to form a group together for a project, another moment I was inviting you to my birthday party at the beach, and almost a decade later, our spoken language is sarcasm with a tint of love.

I don’t know how you do it, but you always manage to put a smile on my face even when I am bawling my eyes out with what darkness was taking over me at the time.

Thank you.

Thank you for agreeing to be in the same group as me.

Even though you normally respond at least once or twice a month, thank you for always being there whenever I need you the most.

Thank you for accepting me for who I am and motivating me to be a better version of myself.

Thank you for staying up late or waking up extremely early because time zones are such a pain.

And most especially, thank you for your friendship. I will forever express to you how much I truly appreciate you, your patience, your kindness, your love for Mariah Carey, and your words of wisdom and encouragement.

Your soul is truly one of a kind and I feel extremely blessed that you welcomed me into your life as well.

You bring so much joy to those around you, and it can’t be helped that you bring out the giggles, F. In everyone that you meet. It’s no wonder that many request time out of your day to be spent with them.

F, I continue to wonder how you manage to keep positive energy and mindset within you. I’m constantly inspired by your nature to quickly let things go or turn upsetting situations into funny scenarios you get to share in a breakroom or look at the bright side of things.

I treasure every video call and in-person hangout we’ve ever had, and we’ll continue to have. I treasure our infinite conversations that can be about one topic in one moment and a completely different topic 5 minutes later. I treasure our “duh” and moments of silence when we’re trying to solve what seemed like a universal discovery of something when it was probably about why ice cream cones are shaped the way they are.

I treasure you. Your presence. Your being.

And yes, even though you make me give you the biggest eye rolls, I treasure your sarcastic remarks and dabs at many of the things I say and do. Because let’s face it, I need to grow a bigger backbone, and you’re definitely helping me with this. Plus, I admit many of your dabs are actually funny even though they’re aimed at me.

F, no matter where life takes us, let’s promise each other that we’ll be there for each other even when we enter our next life; that we’ll make embarrassing, but memorable toasts for each other during our wedding receptions; and that we’ll hike some of the most scenic trails and eat a bunch of delicacies from all over the world.

Let’s promise to have more adventures, memories, and laughter together.
